Our Story

When I first met Sage, I was a 14-year-old with an affinity for going to punk rock shows at the local all-age music venue. My best friend and I started going to see Sage's band play and hanging out with his group of friends. Between parties and punk shows (we were a wild bunch), I got to know Sage a bit and he became my rockstar crush. I showed my affection through various silly antics, one of which involved leaving a trail of notes and a potted plant at his house on his birthday (anonymously, of course). At that point, Sage didn't know that his secret admirer was me, a silly teenager with a big crush.

In 2003, Sage and I met again at a friend's party. We joked about the secret admirer stuff and laughed about old times. We ended up talking and laughing for hours. Over the last three years, our relationship has sometimes felt like an obstacle course, sometimes like a roller coaster stretching across the continents, but in the end we've realized this: we want to spend our lives together, to share the ups and the downs, to feel all the cheesy things we never thought we'd feel about anyone.

Fun Facts

Naomi is very ticklish. Sage isn't, but he pretends he is to make Naomi happy. Sage was originally named Brian Paul Hobbs. He changed his name to Sage Brian Hobbs in 1995. No one (including himself) is entirely sure why. It just seemed like the thing to do. After dating for only three months, Sage and Naomi went to Europe to travel for two months with Sage's brother and sister-in-law. Naomi desperately wants a pet chipmunk. Sage says she can't have one unless she goes to Colorado and catches it herself. When Sage and Naomi first met in 1997, Sage was in a band called Pinfold. Naomi had a big crush on him. In 2005 and 2006, Sage and Naomi sang together in a band called The Hero Complex. While in the band together, at times they were dating, and at other times they weren't. That made for some awkward moments. Sage is eight years older than Naomi. He is a cradle robber. Luckily, they're equally mature. Ha. Sage does all the cooking at home; Naomi's in charge of the dishes. Naomi frowns when she's sleeping.
