The Proposal

Here it is in all its glory. The band is titanium and has two diamonds and a ruby in the center.
In March of 2006, Sage asked me to marry him. We weren't even dating at that point, so I was a bit surprised, to say the least. After much talk (and a bit of freaking out), the two of us decided maybe we should take things a little more slowly, especially since I was planning to leave the country for six months later in the year. Sage decided to get me a promise ring to signify that we were more than just casually dating.

A few days after Sage told me he'd ordered me a ring, a friend and I looked at rings on the internet. I fell in love with one and showed it to Sage, knowing he'd ordered mine a couple days before. I was shocked when he gave me the exact same ring that I'd found on the internet! He said he'd thought I was messing with him, that I'd somehow found out what ring he'd gotten me, but it turns out we just have the same taste. Guess it was meant to be!

The wedding bands are titanium (because Sage is a metal geek) and match beautifully.

I wore my ring on my right hand until I went to Chile, where I decided to wear it on my left ring finger in hopes that the men there would understand that I wasn't available. It didn't always work, but I like to think that it helped. When I returned to Arkansas four months later, Sage basically said that maybe I should just keep my ring on that finger and that he was ready to get married. I knew it was coming, but I couldn't help but be surprised. I'm still trying to get used to crazy words like "fiance" and "wedding". Weird.

So my ring started out as a promise ring and morphed into an engagement ring.
